Powder vs. Liquid

Powder vs. Liquid Foundation

How do you choose between using a powder foundation or a liquid foundation? What are the differences? Let’s take a look!

Coverage

This is a common question, so let’s get it out of the way. Does powder foundation cover up the same as liquid foundation? The answer is yes, and no. Powder foundation gives you a different coverage than liquid foundation will give you. This is not necessarily a bad thing though. Liquid foundation usually goes on more heavily and is useful for very uneven skin tones. But choose carefully to avoid a cakey-looking complexion. Powder foundation applies more lightly. The great thing about powder foundation is that you can layer it. If you put on one layer and if you feel like you still want more coverage, just brush on a bit more.  And added bonus, powder foundation looks very natural on the skin!

Breathability

With powder foundations, you are literally just dusting a powder on your skin. It already sounds lighter. Powder foundation lets your skin breathe so you don’t have to worry about sweat getting trapped under your makeup. With liquid foundations, some have moisturizing ingredients that are beneficial to your skin.

Which is better?

At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. Some people like the feeling and look of liquid foundation because it may give you more coverage overall. Other people like to be able to have their skin breathe and not look too cakey. Do what feels best to you!
